Olin Chamberlain Jr. and his family has deep ties to Philadelphia, so when it came time to decide the next chapter of his journey after graduating from St. Joe’s Prep, staying in the area was a no brainer, writes Sidney Snider for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Chamberlain Jr., the grandnephew of legendary former Philadelphia 76ers center Wilt Chamberlain, has committed to Temple University and will study at the Fox School of Business.
He’s no stranger to Temple, as he was sent there for basketball camp during elementary school.
Growing up, his parents always made sure to drive home the point that basketball wasn’t everything, and that he should discover other extracurriculars in high school.
That notion and mindset followed him when it came time to make his college decision.
“Temple has one of the best business schools in the country, and Temple’s basketball program is one of the best ever, one of the winningest programs ever,” Chamberlain Jr. said. “I thought it was a great culture and just great overall.”
He plans to major in legal studies and is joining Temple as a preferred walk-on.
Chamberlain Jr.’s sights are far beyond basketball, as he aspires to be an estate planning layer or sports agent in the future.
