Buc-ee’s is inching its way toward Pennsylvania as it opens its most northern store yet in Virginia, even teasing Pennsylvania travelers of an impending store opening here with billboards, writes Damon C. Williams for USA Today Network, as published in Yahoo! news.
Similar to Wawa, the Texas-based gas station/convenience superstore has a cult following in the South and Midwest.
Its new location opened June 30 off Interstate 81 in Mount Crawford, Virginia. A second Virginia store is planned near New Kent.
Virginia makes the 12th state in the nation to have a Buc-ees, with 53 total as of July 1 in Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Buc-ee’s has been described as a combination of Wawa, Walmart, and a barbecue joint all rolled into one.
Going back to the fall of 2024, you’ll find a Buc-ees billboard at the Reading and Morgantown exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike near mile marker 291 in Lancaster.
There’s also a cryptic Buc-ees billboard in New Jersey.
Outside of the billboards, there’s been no official word from Buc-ees about expanding into Pennsylvania or the Delaware Valley.
