Two Bucks County Airports Receive Over $2 Million in Funds for Improvement Projects

Quakertown Airport and Doylestown Airport were awarded more than $2 million in state grants.

Two Bucks County airports have been awarded more than $2 million in state grants for facility improvements, infrastructure preservation, and development projects, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The Quakertown Airport will receive $1.1 million, while the Doylestown Airport will get in excess of $1 million, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The Quakertown Airport plans to use the funds for the construction of three new hangars. Meanwhile, the Doylestown Airport will invest $525,000 in the ongoing rehabilitation of its existing hangars as well as allocate $157,500 for the demolition of several structures that are currently on airport property.

The remaining $360,000 will be used to extend public water access to the terminal area of the airport.

“Pennsylvania’s aviation industry provides good-paying jobs while linking communities to a larger transportation system that moves goods and people around the world,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. “These investments are another example of Governor Shapiro’s focus on maintaining our infrastructure while also expanding business opportunities.”

The grants will be funded through the Aviation Transportation Assistance Program, which is part of the state Capital Budget and is supported by bond financing.
