When was the last time a community event didn’t just entertain but transformed lives? On Saturday, May 17th, Cobbs Creek Park won’t just be a park, it will become the epicenter of empowerment, resilience, and civic revival.
The 2025 Community in Action Festival, presented by Community Hero PA, is not your average festival. It’s a movement. And at the heart of it is Nicole Keels-McGruder, a dynamic changemaker with a bold message: “We don’t just gather—we galvanize.”
Meet Nicole Keels-McGruder: The Changemaker Behind Philly’s Most Purpose-Driven Festival
Nicole Keels-McGruder, Executive Director of Community Hero PA, isn’t just organizing an event, she’s orchestrating a call to action. With communities nationwide grappling with health disparities, voter suppression, and economic challenges, Nicole offers a fresh, solutions-focused narrative that today’s audiences crave.
Hosted by Miss Philadelphia 2024, Tynecia Wilson, the Community in Action Festival is where civic engagement meets celebration. This FREE event (yes, free!) fuses essential resources with unforgettable fun:
- The Building the Bloc Block Party Featuring civic giants like Black Voters Matter and PA Youth Vote, driving real voter empowerment ahead of critical elections.
- Hero Health Clinic The Community Health Consortium will be providing free, life-saving screenings—because access to healthcare shouldn’t be a privilege.
- Medicaid Enrollment Clinic On-the-spot help to keep families covered.
- Kids Zone: A cultural playground packed with African drumming, sports clinics, inflatables, and creativity at every corner.
- Live Entertainment DJs, stilt walkers, henna artists, open mic artists—and yes, free food to keep the vibes (and energy) high.
