West Chester University Grad Stuns American Idol Judges with Her Incredible Voice 

Penny Samar, a West Chester University alumna, recently earned herself a spot on American Idol after signing "Pink Pony Club."

A West Chester University alumna has successfully surpassed the most recent round of American Idol auditions, writes Alicia Vitarelli for 6ABC.  

Penny Samar, the local singer/songwriter sang above and beyond, impressing the celebrity judges and earning her golden ticket.  

She chose to sing “Pink Pony Club,” a number-one hit of musical artist Chappell Roan. Samar leans into the energy, calling her supporters the Pink Penny Club. She has her own merchandise highlighting the phrase. 

“Who gets to say they auditioned for Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan?” Samar said. “You have to go all in!” 

Performing isn’t new to rising star, who won “The Star” last year, which is a Chester County-based vocal competition. 

Samar, who is from Williamsport, Pa., cares deeply about her hometown roots, donating some of her watch party proceeds to her local community theater. It holds a special place in her heart, as that’s where she first discovered her love of singing.
