Chrisetta’s Kitchen Offers West African Cuisine Out of West Chester Church

West Chester’s culinary scene has recently expanded with the opening of Chrisetta’s Kitchen, writes Cara Corridoni for Hello, West Chester.

Started by chef Chrisetta Nyepan, Chrisetta’s Kitchen offers traditional Liberian cuisine out of the basement of First Presbyterian Church.

Nyepan learned to cook in her adoptive mother’s kitchen in Liberia and later in her Philadelphia restaurant. By partnering with First Presbyterian Church and Senior Pastor Andrew Esqueda to have her own space, Nyepan now offers delicious takeout cuisine to the community.

The kitchen features an expansive menu with many West African favorites, including Check Rice with gravy, Jollof rice with kidney beans, and vegan Cassava leaf and Fufu. Made-to-order chicken and fish dishes are also available.

Nyepan developed the menu—which rotates daily—with unrefined, handmade ingredients in mind. The result is delicious, specialty cuisine that is already a success in the community; Nyepan recently hosted a “Sweet and Savory” West African Bake Sale for Black History Month this past February.

Chrisetta’s Kitchen is open for takeout orders Monday through Saturday from 4 PM to 9 PM at the church. Ordering is available through Uber Eats, Doordash, and GrubHub.
