Upper Darby native Tina Fey is joined by Colman Domingo, Steve Carell and Will Forte in a romantic comedy series that will premiere this year on Netflix, “The Four Seasons.”
Fey is the cocreator and cowriter, writes Rosa Cartagena for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The series is an adaptation of the 1981 film, “The Four Seasons,” written and directed by Alan Alda, who is the new show’s producer.
Fey has said watching “The Four Seasons” as a kid made a large impression on her.
The eight-episode series covers three couples, lifetime friends, as they vacation each season together over the course of a year.
At one point, one of the husbands leaves his wife and brings a younger girlfriend along instead.
Other comedy cowriters for “The Four Seasons” are Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, who worked with Fey on the NBC sitcom “30 Rock”.
The trio describe the show as a “love letter to long-term relationships, both platonic and romantic.”
“Sometimes when you are struggling with something with just your spouse, you need a group of friends to bring humor to it. Those friendships really help marriages, I think. Having a person who just fulfills a part of you that your spouse can’t quite [fulfill] is very important.”
