With the Philadelphia Eagles on their way to the Super Bowl, local custom clothing designers are taking advantage of the opportunity ahead, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
These designers have all found different ways to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the Eagles’ playoff run and Super Bowl appearance.
Jennifer Basile, founder of Blessed in Distress, began working with an official NFL vendor to sell licensed Eagles apparel to go along with her dyed and distressed custom-made apparel.
Her best-selling gear this year has been a design reading “You can run but we can fly,” featuring Saquon Barkley doing his backwards hurdle.
Since after the NFC Championship game, business has skyrocketed at least ten-fold.
“But it’s just been incredible. I’ve been very, very grateful for the business,” Basile said. “The playoffs and going to the Super Bowl has honestly been the best thing that could have happened for my business right now.”
Ryan Cassidy, owner of PhillyGoat, has made shirts and sweatshirts out of Mayor Cherelle Parker’s misspelling during her Eagles chant.
After this, sales peaked.
Orders were coming in so rapidly that he had to place a timer on how long in advance they had to be placed to arrive before the Super Bowl.
