Fort Washington Developer Purchases 61-Acre Newtown Site for $6.98M to Build 45 Single-Family Homes

Fort Washington-based Toll Brothers has paid $6.98 million for a 61-acre Newtown site where it plans to build 45 single-family homes, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The undeveloped site is located at 107 Twining Bridge Road, next to All Saints Cemetery. It was acquired from Philadelphia Catholic Cemeteries, part of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Lyondale Meadows, as the homebuilder is calling the future development, was originally supposed to stretch over 158 acres, but Newtown Township denied the use permit for the full site in 2022. To move forward with abridged development plans, the company agreed at the time to relinquish the remaining 100 acres of open space to the township.

The process took time, and Toll Brothers was able to finally close on its acquisition of the 61-acre site more than two years after reaching that agreement.

In the final plans, the 45 single-family homes will be placed closer together than initially planned. Toll Brothers will build on 0.46-acre lots, focusing on the northeast portion of the property.

It is expected home sales will start in early 2026.
