Kat Dennings Says Return to Sitcoms with ‘Shifting Gears’ Is Once-in-Lifetime Opportunity

Bryn Mawr’s Kat Dennings is thrilled to be back with her new sitcom, Shifting Gears, starring alongside Tim Allen.

Bryn Mawr’s Kat Dennings is thrilled to be back in front of a live studio audience with her new sitcom, Shifting Gears, starring alongside Tim Allen, writes Christina Radish for the Collider.

The show follows Matt (Allen), the widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop, whose estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) suddenly returns to his life with her two kids.

Dennings had just been thinking of how much fun it would be to return to the genre when she received a call about Shifting Gears.

“And I was like, ‘Okay, this feels very meant to be because I just said this,’” she said. “And of course, when they said, ‘It’s Tim Allen,’ I was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So, that’s how it happened. I wished for it, and it happened.’”

Dennings is also happy to play in front of a live audience again, something that took some getting used to.

“I remember on 2 Broke Girls, I had only previously done small films and things like that, so it really freaked me out, at the beginning of that show,” she said. “Now, I really love it.”
