The aftermath of Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown reading a book on the sidelines of a game led to that book becoming a viral success, writes Carly Tagen-Dye for People.
“It is amazing and a real gift and an honor,” Murphy said in an interview with the TODAY Show.
Jim Murphy, the author of Inner Excellence, published the book back in 2020. The self-help book provides advice on how to overcome mental challenges and anxiety and using those tools to find purpose and fulfillment in life.
With his background as a performance coach and former baseball player with the Chicago Cubs’ minor league team, Murphy wrote the book with athletes and for athletes.
However, the book can be useful to anyone.
In a social media post, Brown said he brings the book to every game and uses it to refocus and stay committed to the game regardless of what happens.
Murphy said a major focus of the book is to highlight the power of teamwork.
