This weekend marks the premiere of Delco: The Movie, opening to sellout crowds at the Media Theater, reports 6abc.
Chris Pierdomenico’s love letter to his birthplace has generated so much local interest a separate showing was added at the Media Theater on Monday.
The Aston native highlighted popular locations in the film, including Tom Jones Restaurant, Roma Deli and Wawa.
He calls the film a love letter because it features locations Delco natives will find familiar.
Even so, the film has a reach beyond Delco.
“Everybody has a complicated relationship with where they grew up so even if they don’t know Delco per se they can relate to the comfort of home and the weirdness of home at the same time,” said Pierdomenico.
The story focuses on three high school seniors trying to shed their squeaky clean image while living in the county.
Pierdomenico is the film’s writer, producer, and director.
The leads, Brian Wilson and Brian O’Halloran, are also Delco natives.
The film began as a small project but developed into a full-length feature film after a successful community-supported crowdfunding campaign.
The movie would not have happened without that community support, Pierdomenico added.
