A historic, more than 150-year-old former church in Fishtown that was later converted to a multifamily residence and artist studio will soon hit the market for $3.5 million, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The three-property property has a combined roughly 17,500 square feet of space. This includes 14,000 square feet of above-ground space and an additional 3,500-square-foot lower level with its own kitchen.

The building was built in the mid-1800s and was once home to the largest Methodist congregation in Philadelphia.

It was founded as Siloam Methodist Church before being converted. It now features a two-bedroom owner’s suite and artist studio, and two one-bedroom auxiliary units.

While it has a new use, the hallmarks of the building’s original design remains. This includes soaring 35-foot ceilings and arched stained glass windows throughout.

According to listing agent Dominic Fuscia of Coldwell Banker Realty, the home has several modern amenities, including a new roof installed last year with 128 solar panels. That’s enough to generate electricity throughout most of the building.

The property was purchased by Dominic Episcopo in 2004, who renovated it during a time of disrepair and “fairly abandoned,” he said.
