The Cheltenham community has rallied around a popular local restaurant, Da Burger Jawn after it was vandalized earlier this week, writes Steve Keeley for FOX 29 Philadelphia.
Owner Kumony McFarland, known to his customers as Q, answered a distressing call Wednesday morning. Someone had vandalized his beloved homemade food restaurant. He posted a video of the wreckage he found on Instagram. The incident made him consider closing the eatery for good.
“I work hard,” said McFarland. “I just try to support my kids, my family and bring something different to the community and for you to get a call at seven o’clock in the morning, letting you know your store’s been broken into. You see all the glass and everything I gotta clean up the debris and see what was taken and what wasn’t taken. I was just at my breaking point.”
However, McFarland received a flood of encouragement and support online. Many of his customers showed up saying how much his food and business meant to them.
“We got a lot of people saying don’t stop the business, we love your food,” he said. “That right there showed me I’m not in it by myself.”
