While many hotel restaurants offer bland and overpriced food, Bastia at Hotel Anna & Bel in Philadelphia features an incredible menu that makes it worth booking a night’s stay there, writes Kevin Sintumuang for The Wall Street Journal.
The Mediterranean restaurant is run by chef Tyler Akin. It is located in a new hotel in Fishtown, a perpetually burgeoning neighborhood.
The restaurant staff often goes the extra mile for guests who they can easily recognize.
“We are often moving through the same common areas throughout the day, so it feels perfectly natural to notice hotel guests and make their visit to the restaurant extra special,” said Akin.
The restaurant also offers additional benefits to hotel guests, including sending welcome gifts to their rooms in the form of cookies or snacks that they may know are guest favorites.
One of the most popular treats features grapefruit and Thomcord grapes with burrata, hazelnuts, and dark chocolate.
For individuals visiting nearby New York City, there are three solid options there. Cafe Carmellini at Fifth Avenue Hotel features fun and glamour within its French and Italian cuisines; Matilda at The Henson features a homier hotel with a great menu; while Casa Susanna at Camptown Lodge in Leeds features soulful, personal Mexican cuisine.
