Mighty Bread Company Expands Into the Beer Scene, Releases Debut Drink

Mighty Bread has debuted the first beer under its brand, called Amici del Pane (“bread friends”). It's made with the same durum what used in Mighty Bread's popular semolina loaf.

Mighty Bread Company has expanded its cafe menu of toasts, salads, sandwiches, and snacks to now include beer, writes Michael Klein for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Moreover, Mighty Bread has debuted the first beer under its brand, called Amici del Pane (“bread friends”).

A while back, Mighty Bread owner Chris DiPiazza started thinking about the similarities between bread and beer.

“Fermentation is something that we know a lot about,” he said. “We wanted to see what those kinds of inspired-type beers could be.”

This led to Mighty Bread obtaining a brewery license.

DiPiazza describes the Amici del Pane as a semolina Italian pilsner, made with the same durum what used in Mighty Bread’s popular semolina loaf.

It joins three wines from Mural City Cellars, Bloody Marys, and mimosas as part of Mighty Bread’s new, revamped drink menu.

Amini del Pane is available on tap and in four-packs of cans to go.

“We like the Italian idea of a cafe where it’s ‘your place’ throughout the day. You go and you meet people in the afternoon for a drink, but it’s not a bar. You can bring your kids, you get a little something to eat, and then you go home. You’re not staying there late,” he said.
