Joel Embiid has agreed to and signed a max 3-year, $192.9 million contract extension with the Philadelphia 76ers, writes The Athletic staff.
The new extension kicks in at the start of the 2026-27 season and includes a player for the 2028-29 season. In total, Joel Embiid is essentially on a five-year deal with an overall value of $299.55 million, according to sources.
Embiid took to Instagram to confirm the new deal.
“Philadelphia is home. I want to be here for the rest of my career,” Joel Embiid wrote in the post caption. “I love this community and everything you’ve given me and my family. There is a lot more work to do. You guys deserve a championship and I think we’re just getting started!”
Embiid’s contract is the third richest in the NBA.
With the Sixers’ July signing of Paul George, the team is hoping they have put together the best roster Embiid has had with the team.
Embiid has helped lead the Sixers to seven straight playoff appearances, but the team has struggled to make it past the second round.
In 433 regular-season games, Embiid has averaged 27.9 points and 11.2 rebounds, won an MVP, two straight scoring titles, and seven straight All-Star selections.
