Tracy Johnson Rockmore has been struggling with what she later learned to be dyslexia for several years before officially being diagnosed after high school.
Since her diagnosis, however, she has discovered the right resources to help unlock her learning potential and became inspired to also help others, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.
“Going through those challenges as a young person, I felt like I was a broken vessel,” Johnson Rockmore said. “Now knowing that I was dyslexic and then finding out some tutoring programs and resources out there to help students with dyslexia, I felt that that vessel was mended. And I wanted to now be empowered to help others.”
Johnson Rockmore is the founder of ‘Vessels of Hope,’ an organization that offers educational awareness, dyslexia support, and helps connect people living in underserved communities with necessities and resources.
After learning of her diagnosis and learning of ways to overcome it, she has been able to do many other great things.
Johnson Rockmore has published two books, and is also a professor at Harcum College.
“The dream for the future — the best outcome — would be knowing that I’m connecting to the people that need it the most,” said Johnson Rockmore.
