Soko Bag in Phoenixville Combines Korean Comfort Food with Craft Beer

Soko Bag is a combination of a smallish sports bar, a local brewery, and a Korean fried chicken joint that joined the Phoenixville dining scene in January to great success, writes Jason Sheehan for the Philadelphia Magazine

The inside of the former Sal’s Pizza Box now has a mural of Philadelphia sports heroes made in the style of da Vinci’s Last Supper

When it just opened, the lines were so long that the owners handed waiting customers bagged salty snacks and offered tasters of the house beers to keep people from going crazy from the long wait. Now the situation has settled down a bit, but co-owner Shea Roggio still offers a short draft for anyone waiting too long on a takeout order.

Roggio, alongside his Korean-born wife, Alice Chang, makes killer Korean fried chicken. The pair developed all of the recipes in South Korea together with Chang’s mom. Before opening their own place, they held pop-ups around Philadelphia to make sure people would actually like it.

One of the highlights is the snow chicken, which is generously caked in powdered white cheddar cheese.
