Philadelphia Native David Corenswet is the Star of New ‘Superman’ Film

David Corenswet is "Superman" is the newest installment of the movie franchise.

Shooting for the upcoming “Superman” film has been taking place in Cleveland over the past couple months, and it features Philadelphia native David Corenswet as the lead actor, writes Chris Compendio for PhillyVoice.

The first photos of Corenswet on set with his “Superman” costume were recently spotted, and many people had their critiques.

Some online commentators complimented the overall comic-book accuracy of Corenswet’s suit, while others criticized its design. There are comments that also argued that the costume looks baggy and loose, compared to the tighter costume worn by the most recent previous Superman actor, Henry Cavill.

While the early critiques are warranted, observers point out that the suit could look very different in the final product when color grading, reshoots, and post-production CGI touch-ups are added to the equation.

Photos of Corenswet as Clark Kent can also be found online.

The new Superman film is set to be released on July 11, 2025. Corenswet, on the other hand, can be seen on the big screen much sooner, in the new film, “Twisters,” which hit theaters on July 19, 2024.
