AARP Pennsylvania spotlights its July Volunteer of the Month, Cassandra Robinson, who enjoys sharing AARP’s resources with others.

Cassandra Robinson took care of her mother for 10 years before she passed away in 2018.

“Once my mother was gone, I felt a void in my life,” said Robinson, a retired Caseworker for the Department of Human Services and a member of AARP since she turned 50.

That void in her life was filled once she joined the Delaware County AARP volunteer team in 2018.

“My favorite part of volunteering is providing information to people about AARP,” she said. “When I’m asked to volunteer, I’m there, whether it’s for advocacy or fun events.”

She said many people are surprised when she tells them about AARP’s resources. During a recent Delaware County paper shredding event, Robinson and other volunteers offered attendees information on fraud.

“People were grateful for that information; they were amazed when I began listing all the discounts that are available through AARP,” Robinson stated. “All in all, I enjoy volunteering. And with AARP, I always learn something new, too.”
