Since acquiring Philadelphia-based coffee roaster La Colombe late last year, Chobani has made several adjustments.
This includes a free-yogurt benefit, leadership changes, and a few dozen departures in its corporate structure.
While more changes are on the horizon, Philadelphia will remain a big component of the La Colombe brand, write Lizzy McLellan Ravitch and Ariana Perez-Castells for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The coffee arm is hiring at least 40 corporate employees. The majority of the new jobs will be in Philadelphia.
Chobani is also trying to secure a new product-testing space in Philly, in addition to obtaining more office space beyond La Colombe’s corporate offices in Fishtown.
“We are a national brand now, but our home is Philadelphia, and we don’t intend to change that,” said Kathryn O’Connor, chief marketing officer at La Colombe.
The Choabni merger has also led to some wage raises, as the company has spent $20 million to bring salaries, bonuses, and benefits at La Colombe. That includes a new $20 minimum wage for part-time and full-time hourly employees.
In addition, Chobani’s equity program — which offers ownership stake to full-time employees — will be rolled out to the La Colombe team in the near future.
