Kristen Clark is a lifelong dancer and strives to elevate her Germantown community through her talents, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc. 

Clark co-owns The Kinesics Dance Dynamics Theatre in Germantown, where she works as a dance instructor and leads the mission to promote and foster growth, development, and education through dance and performances. 

Last year, she and fellow local creatives brainstormed an idea to promote local artists and improve their neighbors’ access to art.

This led to the founding of the Germantown Arts District, which partners and collaborates with local artists and arts-based organizations and businesses. 

Toward the end of each month, the nonprofit hosts Fourth Friday events to bring arts entertainment to the neighborhood. 

“Germantown means home to me. It means legacy,” said Clark. “Everything that I do now is because of what I’ve learned from being in this environment.”

Clark has a grander vision, however. 

That’s to bring a first-of-its-kind interactive arts festival to Philadelphia in April 2024.

“When people come, they get to engage with art, view some musicians, see vendors … But we’re trying to encourage everybody to make something while they’re here so that you leave having embraced your creativity in some way,” said Clark.
