Center City Developer Bobby Fijan is Determined to Create More Family-Oriented Apartments

Bobby Fijan is the founder of Form Developers and wants to see more apartments suitable for families.

Bobby Fijan, a Philadelphia-based developer, wants the real estate industry to put a more heightened focus on building more family-sized apartments in cities nationwide, writes Jake Blumgart for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Fijan is the founder of Form Developers and is known for posting images of apartment floor plans that are more accommodating of families with children.

It’s his belief that Philadelphia and its peer cities can benefit from building larger apartment buildings for families, as it would keep more people in the city rather than having them move into the suburbs.

“Philadelphia has a lot of people come to the city for grad school or for first jobs. The main thing that’s lost in not having units that allow someone to step up is it causes everyone who is here in the city for a certain period of time to have that countdown clock,” said Fijan.

If someone coming to Philly initially lives in a one- or two-bedroom apartment, they may be tempted to move outside the city in the event they decide to start a family.

Fijan’s vision is for it to no longer be the case.

“I … don’t think there’s anybody who loves the city who doesn’t wish they could stay,” Fijan added.
