Saint Mary Interparochial School on Locust Street in Society Hill and Saint Philip Neri School in Lafayette Hill, both in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, are among the eight schools across Greater Philadelphia that were awarded the 2023 National Blue Ribbon by the U.S. Department of Education earlier this week, writes Ryan Sharrow for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Nationally, 353 schools were recognized with the prestigious award.

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program each year recognizes up to 420 schools for their overall academic performance or progress in closing the achievement gaps among their student subgroups.

“The honorees for our 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award have set a national example for what it means to Raise the Bar in education,” said Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.

He added that the schools’ leaders, educators, and staff “continually inspire me with their dedication to fostering academic excellence and building positive school cultures that support students of all backgrounds to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”
