Pennsylvania Turnpike Expands Digital Payment Choices
The Pennsylvania Turnpike has increased the number of digital options drivers can use to cover their tolls, writes Matt Coughlin for KYW Newsradio.
“Effective now, customers can use Apple and Google Pay as options to pay their tolls,” said Marissa Orbanek, press secretary for the Turnpike.
The Turnpike announced it was adding the two mobile pay options after a successful soft launch last month.
“And during the soft launch, we saw thousands of customers taking advantage of Google and Apple Pay,” said Orbanek.
Drivers now have two new mobile options to make payments when they go online or open the Turnpike app to pay their tolls.
“When you go to pay it — just like any other payment, any other website that you go to — our app that you’re utilizing, it brings up payment options, and Google and Apple Pay are now options available for the toll,” said Orbanek.
She added that the Turnpike has recorded an uptick in the number of customers who are using its PA Toll Pay app.
“It just hit 2 million downloads in May,” she said.
