Find Your Zen Through Baked Goods at This New Bakery in Malvern

By

Sweet Zen Bakery has just opened in Malvern by owner Amal Kawar, who has already seen customers become regulars and repeats in her short time of being open to the public, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.

Kawar was a pastry chef for over 20 years and worked at Basil in Paoli for seven years. She finds peace and joy in baking, including calling the kitchen and bakery her Zen Place.

Walking through the doors is “brutal” with all the delicious goods and pastries being pumped out. Plus, everything is made on the bakery premises.

The enticing aroma of items like cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies draws people in, while treats such as peanut butter brownies, cheesecake, and a variety of breads keeps everyone coming back.

“Whether it’s chocolate chip cookies baking, or cinnamon rolls hot out of the oven, just smelling it is heavenly,” said Kawar.  “It’s the first step toward Zen.”

The bakery is open from 7 AM – 3 PM every day, and Kawar is making the magic happen as early as 5 AM or 6 AM.

“I just want to be known as a traditional walk-in bakery where you can get a variety of so many different things,” she said.
