Yardley Native Richard Kind Tapped by Fans for SNL Role as Tim Walz
Richard Kind, the versatile actor known for his roles in Inside Out, A Serious Man, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, has a deep connection to Bucks County, where he grew up before rising to fame, writes Bedatri D. Choudhury for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Born in Trenton and raised in Yardley, Kind’s early life was far from Hollywood, with his father, Samuel Kind, owning a jewelry store in Princeton.
Despite his father’s hopes that he would take over the family business, Kind pursued acting, graduating from Northwestern University and eventually amassing over 290 credits in TV and film. He is set to appear in the upcoming season of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and the Paramount+ drama Evil.
Recently, Kind has become a popular choice among fans to play Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Saturday Night Live, following Steve Martin declined. Even actor Michael J. Fox, Kind’s former Spin City co-star, supports the idea.
