With the retirement of Jason Kelce, Cam Jurgens is the Eagles' new starting center and will play a much bigger role in the team's offense.

Cam Jurgens has spent his first couple years in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles playing beside Jason Kelce, the center he was drafted to replace, writes Brooks Kubena for The Athletic.

The farm-raised Nebraskan has since bought a house deep in South Philadelphia and has already established himself in Philadelphia as the third-year veteran enters his age-25 season.

“I’ve just been here two years, but I feel like I’ve been here so much longer,” Jurgens said.

With Kelce’s retirement, Jurgens will now be stepping more firmly into the spotlight.

Kelce’s mentorship has been invaluable for Jurgens as he has navigated his first few years in the league. However, the Eagles’ premium of mentorship has expanded his list of mentors tremendously.

His list includes two-time All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson, two-time Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson, left tackle Jordan Mailata, and former Eagles guard Isaac Seumalo.

“Like, it’s crazy all the vets that I had when I came in here and how much I was able to learn,” Jurgens said. “So, it’s easy to get to the point where I am to learn all this as long as (I’m) coming in and putting in the work.”

He plans to put in that work.
