Philadelphia ranks as the 13th worst urban city in terms of traffic, according to the recent Global Traffic Scorecard by INRIX.

While Bangkok has often been regarded with having among the worst traffic in the world, Philadelphia has the Thai city beat, writes Victor Fiorillo for Philadelphia Magazine.

This is based off a new traffic report published by the company INRIX, which specializes in such things.

The new Global Traffic Scorecard by INRIX includes data from 2023 and the first quarter of 2024.

The report ranked Philadelphia as the 13th worst urban area in the world for traffic delays. It was based on their metric of the number of hours the average driver is delayed by traffic.

Philadelphia’s average number of hours is 69 hours, compared to 63 hours in Bangkok.

Philly ranked sixth among U.S. cities, trailing only New York (101 hours), Chicago (96 hours), Los Angeles (89 hours), Boston (88 hours), and Miami (70 hours).

Philadelphia was tied with Atlanta and Washington D.C. for second place in terms of an increase in trips downtown over the previous year.

Philly trips increased by 7 percent from last year, trailing only New York, which increased by 13 percent.
