As the summer season quickly approaches, many are going to want to get their hands on a nice, cool treat, and ice cream sandwiches fit the description perfectly.
The doughy, creamy goodness of milk and cookies in one cool, handheld bite has made the treat quite popular since it first popped up in the United States around 1900.

Weckerly’s has been a favorite pretty much since its inception in 2012. Flavors like Lemon Berry Graham with sweet cream ice cream with lemon zest, house made berry jam swirl and graham cracker crumbs between soft graham cookies, and People’s Choice, layers of Caphe Roasters coffee ice cream and cookies & cream ice cream with cocoa cookie crumbs between chocolate chocolate chip cookies, have made Weckerly’s a star in the ice cream sandwich department.
Franklin Fountain in Old City has ice cream sandwiches that include traditional chocolate chip cookie and brownie sandwiches, in addition to the pretzel bun with a slab of your choice of ice cream. There are also seasonal sandwiches, like snickerdoodle and sea salt caramel.
Zsa’s Ice Cream in Germantown has its own array of customizable ice cream sandwiches along with constantly rotating seasonal batches.
