Here’s How You Can Support Bucks County’s Fight Against Hunger Without Leaving Home

By

The United Way of Bucks County is launching its annual “Bucks Knocks Out Hunger” campaign in a unique fashion this year by hosting a “non-event” on May 29, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.

Traditionally, a blend of a food drive and meal-packing event, the campaign this year invites participants to donate the cost of a meal they would have had at a standard fundraiser.

Marissa Christie, the President and CEO of the Fairless Hills-based nonprofit, emphasizes the ease of contributing from home, stating, “There’s no need to dress up, fight traffic, or find a babysitter when you attend a non-event.”

Participants can simply enjoy their day knowing their contributions are helping local families access nutritious food.

The fundraiser encourages community members to create personal fundraising pages to further spread the word and raise essential funds.

The proceeds will provide fresh produce, eggs, and dairy to food pantries, senior centers, and the Fresh Connect mobile farmers market.

The culmination of the campaign will see volunteers at Neshaminy Mall on June 14, packing 100,000 meals for distribution across local food outlets.

Those interested in volunteering can register for the meal-packing event, which has received substantial local support, including sponsorship from notable entities like Penn Community Bank and Parx Casino
