The Bookhouse Hotel in Kennett Square Is On Mission to Bring Back Love of Books

By

In the age of technology, there’s something comforting about curling up with a good book. Stephanie Olenik and her partners agree; which is why they combined books and the lodging business with an intriguing twist, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News

Olenik co-owns two hotels: the Bookhouse Hotel in Kennett Square, and the former Faunbrook Bed & Breakfast in West Chester.

A beloved property, Faunbrook was auctioned off. It is set to come alive again this fall, as Olenik and her partners have renovated it.

The Bookhouse Hotel features four rooms that are perfect for a cozy, literary night in. In West Chester, the Faunbrook hotel will have seven rooms. At both locations, books are the star.

There’s more going on at The Bookhouse Hotel than just sleeping and reading: Olenik hosts a podcast with authors – some well-known and some aspiring.

The Local Author Wall features books for sale by someone you might know. Young authors can pick up tips on how to get started and how to get a book published.

The hotel also hosts a quarterly book club, where two groups meet every three months.

At the Faunbrook property, the owners plan to have book signings, book launches, and readings.

“This feels like a dream to do something like this,” Olenik said. “I feel very lucky.”
