Kennett Square Native Heads to 2024 Paris Olympics in Rowing
Kennett Square native Justin Best has been named to the United States Olympic Rowing Team for Paris 2024, writes staff for Chester County Press.
This is Best’s second time competing in the Olympics after he was in the men’s eight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He also won a silver medal in the men’s four event at the 2023 World Rowing Championships.
The 26-year-old went to Unionville High School and graduated from Drexel University. After getting a concussion in middle school from football, he sought alternative sports. He then started rowing for Newport Rowing Club on the Christina River after his parents were inspired by seeing the sport in the movie, The Social Network.
He continued rowing at Unionville, evening go so far as to petition the school board to add rowing as a club sport.
Best’s role is key to maintaining balance while rowing and finding the perfect rhythm, a skill he has honed over many years of intense training and growing.
