Firstrust Bank Expands Access for First-Time Homebuyers
Philadelphia’s Hometown Bank is opening doors for first-time homebuyers.
The First Front Door program is now available at Firstrust Bank.
The First Front Door program, administered by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, provides down-payment and closing-cost assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers. Borrowers can qualify for up to $15,000 in assistance to make the dream of owning a home more achievable for those in the Greater Philadelphia region.
“Buying your first house is an exciting time, but it’s not without its challenges. With limited inventory to high mortgage rates, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the process,” said Bart Skurbe, Senior Vice President of Retail Mortgage Production at Firstrust. “At Firstrust, we understand that purchasing your first home is often one of the most expensive decisions you’ll ever make, so our team of experienced mortgage specialists is prepared to assist you, providing knowledge, guidance, and now an opportunity for financial support.”
Here’s how the program works: The First Front Door grant provides up to $15,000 in down-payment and closing-cost assistance when eligible homebuyers contribute $1,500 of their own funds toward down payment and closing costs.
“Firstrust is excited to make home-buying more accessible for our customers and the communities we serve,” said Skurbe. “As a First Front Door program provider, we can help unlock opportunity and possibilities for growth and prosperity.”
Those interested in applying for the First Front Door program must meet a set of eligibility requirements, including being a first-time homebuyer and having a household income that is less than or equal to 80 percent of the area’s median income. Additionally, borrowers must contribute personal funds toward the down payment and closing costs, must not be a student working less than 30 hours per week, must complete at least four hours of homeownership counseling from an approved provider prior to purchase, and may not receive more than $250 cash back at loan closing. The borrower must retain the home for five years from the loan closing date to keep the full amount of the grant.
