Drexel University is one of the newest naming rights deals SEPTA has signed with and more could be in the near future.

In its continued efforts to find new revenue opportunities amid its impending $240 million operating budget hole, SEPTA leaders are looking to sell more naming rights to stations, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

SEPTA currently has five active naming rights deals with large companies — NRG, Jefferson Health, University of Pennsylvania Health System, Wawa, and Drexel University

Together, those five existing contracts are set to bring a total of $29.1 million in revenue throughout the deals, with SEPTA gaining roughly $3.4 million in additional revenue annually for at least the next two years.

“We love that local stakeholders want to be associated with our system and want everyone to know how easily accessible they are while using SEPTA, so it’s really a wonderful partnership,” SEPTA CEO and general manager Leslie Richards said. “It’s something we would always be interested in exploring.”

As SEPTA looks to sign additional naming rights deals, Jon Roche, vice president and general manager for the East region of Intersection, the advertising agency that has worked with SEPTA on advertising since 2005, sees untapped potential for 15th Street Station near City Hall and the Broad Street Line’s Walnut-Locust Station
