Pho Skyline, a new Vietnamese cuisine restaurant has opened in the Italian Market of South Philadelphia, writes Ali Mohsen for Billy Penn at WHYY.

The new restaurant is the brainchild of business partners Vincent Tran and Kiet Trinh.

“What we focus on with our food is mainly to create traditional dishes with real Vietnamese authentic flavors,” said Tran.

The menu runs the gamut from banh mi to rice crepes, and features over 20 different options for pho.

Toppings for the beef-broth-and-noodle bowls include brisket, rare steak, beef balls, and a veggie and tofu combination, in addition to the restaurant’s specialty, filet mignon.

The thinly sliced meat cuts can be ordered over broken rice or bún (rice noodle) platters, as well as in a BBQ filet mignon banh mi, which is a Skyline special that can’t be found elsewhere.

Other menu items include several wonton, chicken, and pork soups, a specialty noodle selection, rice cakes and rice crepes made daily, summer rolls, and much more.

Pho Skyline is the latest business endeavor Tran and Trinh have together, as, in 2020, they launched an online catering service, Bet Viet Phila

“We’ve come from small beginnings,” Tran said. “But we’re just hoping to serve authentic Vietnamese food for the local community, and for everyone in Philly.”
