Before the close of 2023, 48 Record Bar opened its door in Old City and a short time later, a Kensington cocktail bar transformed their space into a listening bar, writes Jason Sheehan for Philadelphia Magazine.

As 48 Record Bar, a hybrid bar and listening club above Sassafras, has gotten on its feet, it has started up with regular programming.

This includes everything from a reading series to live events, including a deep listening event celebrating the vinyl release of Andre 3000’s new album, New Blue Sun.

The mission, as stated on its website is simple, “to get people together to listen to records.”

This isn’t the only new addition to Philadelphia’s listening room scene, however.

Forin, a Kensington cafe, has transformed its upstairs space into one, as well.

Called Impressions, the space features records on the walls, records on carts, and listening stations for vinyl lovers of all kinds.
