Historic House in Chester Springs Shines Once Again as Life’s Patina Mercantile & Café

After five years filled with challenges, Malvern’s Meg Veno opened Life’s Patina Mercantile & Café, an expansion of the company she founded in 2011, in the historic Jenny Lind House in Chester Springs, writes Caroline O’Halloran for Savvy Main Line.

“There were so many throw-in-the-towel moments here, but I wanted to see the project to the end because I believed it was valuable to the community,” said Veno.

And she was right. The community embraced the new spot quickly turning it into one of the town’s favorites.

Since its grand opening in December, “we’ve been overwhelmed by the support,” said Veno.

Life’s Patina’s seasonal barn sales gained popularity thanks to word of mouth. This got it featured in several magazines, including Country Living, and an appearance on Stone House Revival.

Inside Life’s Patina, Veno showcases her favorite finds. Meanwhile, the cafe portion of the business features locally sourced and seasonal soups, salads, and sandwiches, along with sweets and specialty coffee drinks.

One day, in the future, Veno hopes to open a bed and breakfast on the upper floor of the building.
