The Twee Studio in South Philly Creates Eco-Friendly Art Supplies For Children
The Twee Studio, a woman-owned business in South Philadelphia, is drawing up a new way for children to play, reports LeeAnne Kayati for 6abc.
The maker studio specializes in creating handmade arts tools and supplies that are specially made to help children increase their grip strength and improve their motor skills while encouraging creative play and imagination.
For the company’s CEO Margaux Delcollo, the goal is to make the ordinary “extraordinary.”
“The whole idea of Twee was to get kids outside, to get them using their imagination, coloring outside the lines, and really having that break from screen time that we all need so badly,” said Delcollo.
The studio has a big emphasis on being eco-friendly.
To this end, the company’s maker staff creates sidewalk chalk, a well-known eco-friendly mineral.
Rather than using glitter to make the chalk more colorful, shiny, and vibrant, the team instead uses mica as an alternative.
Twee products can be found in various shops across Philadelphia.
However, the buck doesn’t stop there.
“You can find us nationally and you can find us internationally, as well,” said Delcollo, adding that their products can also be found in Australia and France. “We’re slowly creeping everywhere.”
