West Chester Gets Its First Donut Shop, Rose’s Little Donuts, Which Sources From Philly Coffee Roaster
Rose’s Little Donuts, the only donut shop in downtown West Chester, officially opened its doors to eager customers on Nov. 17, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.
Husband and wife team Beth and Justin Campbell noticed eight years ago that downtown was missing a donut shop. So in August last year, they bought the building at 22 N. Darlington Street with a 300-square foot customer area and started renovating.
“It seemed like the perfect location and opportunity to try,” said Justin. “West Chester needed a donut shop.”
There are nine varieties of donuts baked each day, including Strawberry Sprinkle and Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel. The specials vary from chocolate to gingerbread to pumpkin.
“We make them fresh all day,” said Justin. “We make limited specials until the batter sells out.”
The shop also offers great coffee, and it is the only borough shop that uses beans sourced from the ReAnimator of Philadelphia.
The shop has ten employees, including five experienced baristas. The goal, said Justin, was to be both a great donut and coffee shop.
“You can’t go wrong with pairing donuts with coffee,” said Beth.
