Exploring the Work of Philadelphia’s CosciaMoos Architecture
Center City-based CosciaMoos Architecture is an award-winning architecture and interior design firm with a rich portfolio that includes commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, and interior projects, writes Niall Patrick Walsh for the Archinect.
The firm was founded thirteen years ago with the motto that “architecture isn’t just about designing buildings; it’s about working together to design creative solutions.”
Its projects are shaped around three main values: “Be creative and make it cool; challenges are growth opportunities; and relationships are everything.”
The firm designed the Hamilton Court Amenities Building in Philadelphia for residential developers Post Brothers. The building sits within the courtyard of a historic Venetian Gothic structure that currently houses contemporary apartments.
“They asked us for a glass box,” explained the design team. “We came back with a glass box shrouded in a sculptural metal and steel veil. Though it wasn’t what they were expecting, they loved it and asked us not to change a thing.”
Another Philadelphia building designed by CosciaMoos Architecture is The Poplar, which was transformed from a warehouse built in 1918 into a modern apartment complex that also boasts office spaces and amenities.
The building has been renovated in a way that preserved its “unique historical character, while also offering contemporary amenities.”
