Wall Street Journal: Wharton Grad Keeps Tesla Rolling As Elon Musk’s Attention Gets Pulled in Several Directions
Zach Kirkhorn, a graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and CFO of Tesla, is the one who is keeping the electric vehicle company rolling while Elon Musk’s attention is pulled in different directions, report Rebecca Elliott and Zoe Thomas for the Tech News Briefing podcast at The Wall Street Journal.
According to others at Tesla, Kirkhorn is widely admired for his ability to navigate his boss’ demands and execute his vision for the company.
Kirkhorn, who is known for his firm but also collegial management style, provided a glance into what the future might look like for the company during a first-quarter earnings call with investors.
“Our approach is to grow volumes as quickly as possible in both our vehicle and energy businesses,” he said. “We plan to continue to invest heavily into our future plans, which include the Cybertruck, next-generation platform, in-house cell production, energy storage business, and our autonomy and AI-enabled products.”
Since he became CFO of Tesla four years ago, the company has seen its value grow from around $50 billion to over $500 billion.
