Mural Arts Philadelphia, the nation’s largest public art program, proudly announced the dedication of the Seasons of Imagination mural series by artist Marian Bailey. This vibrant collection of murals, located at the Joseph Pennell School in Philadelphia’s Fern Rock neighborhood, celebrates the transformative power of art and its role in fostering community, imagination, and playful learning.

A Celebration of Creativity and Community

The Seasons of Imagination mural series transforms the school’s walls into a dynamic celebration of color, literacy, and representation, featuring interactive characters and themes that inspire creativity and learning among students and the local community. The mural dedication ceremony will include remarks from key project supporters, school leadership, and the artist, followed by an outdoor celebration (weather permitting).

“At Mural Arts, we believe that public art has the power to transform spaces and inspire minds,” said Chad Eric Smith, Senior Director of Communications and Brand Management at Mural Arts Philadelphia. “The Seasons of Imagination mural series by artist Marian Bailey, with Sahiti Bonam as the project manager, is a testament to the incredible creativity and collaboration that make our city’s public art so impactful. This project not only beautifies the Joseph Pennell School but also empowers students and the community to dream bigger and see their stories reflected in vibrant, meaningful ways.”

“I was tasked with incorporating elements of imaginative play that would also prompt students to want to read and to think BIG!,” said artist Marian Bailey via their official Instagram account. “This project took place across 6 walls and was just over 1700 square feet. Sounds easy, right? I had the best time figuring out colors, getting to know the students/faculty, and working with the best crew!”
