New ‘Crossing Cabin Run’ Holiday Card Features Iconic Bucks County Bridge
A new holiday greeting card released by artist Jerry Cable titled Crossing Cabin Run features the iconic Loux Covered Bridge in Pipersville, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The Bucks County bridge, located close to the artist’s studio, was constructed in 1874 by David Sutton. It was named after John A. Loux, the county’s longest-tenured Justice of the Peace.
At 60 feet, the bridge is the second-shortest in Bucks County and the only one that is painted white.
Cable is a distinguished Bucks County painter who started creating homemade Christmas cards as a young boy, using block prints, linoleum cuts, and hand-tinted photocopies.
“Many customers have been collecting my cards for more than twenty years and I receive card orders from across the country,” he said.
Cable also crafted the message inside the card, which reads: “Crossing over a frozen creek the woods, lovely, dark, and deep. May the blessings of this Christmas renew your spirit bringing you warmth and cheer to guide you through another year. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.”
The card can only be purchased online at the artist’s webpage.
