Philadelphia Mills now goes by the new name, Franklin Mall, as it was sold to Jones Lang LaSalle, a private investment group, over the summer.

After a decade under the name Philadelphia Mills, the popular Northeast Philadelphia mall will be go by the name Franklin Mall moving forward, writes Taleisha Newbill for CBS News Philadelphia.

The new name is the result of the mall now being under new ownership.

Simon Property Group sold the mall to Jones Lang LaSalle, a private investment group over the summer.

Since then, the Philadelphia Mills signage came down and the Franklin Mall nameplates went up.

Franklin Mall has been a staple in the city since 1989, originally under the name Franklin Mills, as it was owned by the Mills Corporation.

It was then sold to Simon Property Group and renamed to Philadelphia Mills in 2014.

With 92 stores open, Philadelphia Mall is currently the second largest shopping mall in Pennsylvania.
