Two Philadelphia High Schools Rank Among Top Three Best High Schools in Pennsylvania
Two School District of Philadelphia schools have ranked among the top three best high schools in Pennsylvania, according to a new report from the U.S. News and World Report.
According to the publication, this year’s rankings “showcase the schools whose students demonstrate outstanding outcomes, surpassing the anticipated benchmarks, including achieving high graduation rates.”
Julia R. Masterman Laboratory and Demonstration School in Spring Garden ranked first in Pennsylvania, with an impressive score of 99.81. The school also placed at No. 33 on the national ranking, making it the only Pennsylvania school in the national top 50.
The school has an Advanced Placement participation rate of 91 percent. Minority enrollment is 59 percent and 100 percent of the students are economically disadvantaged.
Central High School on North Broad Street in Olney placed third in Pennsylvania and at No. 238 in the country with a score of 98.65.
The school has an AP participation rate of 61 percent. Minority enrollment is 69 percent and 100 percent of students are economically disadvantaged.

Julia R. Masterman Secondary School was previously ranked 10th best high school in the U.S.
