Wawa vs. Sheetz? Not anymore. Now It’s Wawa Vs. Buc-ee’s
Wawa vs. Sheetz. That’s the battle we’re used to here in Pennsylvania.
But now that Wawa is stretching its legs and expanding nationwide, new competitors are on the horizon.
Now it’s Wawa vs. Buc-ee’s, and Wawa is losing, according to a post from the blog Coconut Mama.
The blog used nine criteria to judge them both.
Food selection went to Buc-ees because it just has more food, thanks to its 50,000+ square-foot store footprint, compared to Wawa’s mere 4,000.
Food quality went to Buc-ees.
“Wawa’s food is excellent—especially the turkey bowls and bagel sandwiches. But Buc-ee’s is on a whole different level. They have literal pitmasters on staff to create amazing barbecue,” wrote Coconut Mama.
In other criteria, convenience went to Wawa.
“Wawa absolutely demolishes Buc-ee’s on this metric—there’s no way to get in and out of a Buc-ee’s in less than 30 minutes.”
Clean bathrooms went to Buc-ee’s, while amenities like gas, and electric vehicle charging went to Wawa. The Delaware County chain also won out with its reward program.
Customer fanaticism, surprisingly, went to Buc-ee’s.
In the end, Buc-ee’s had a narrow advantage as the favorite.
