The Giant Company to Open New Store on South Broad Street in December
The Giant Company is readying to expand in Philadelphia as it eyes opening a new store on South Broad Street on December 13, writes Greg Sleter for Store Brands.
The new store located at the corner of Washington Avenue will be 40,000 square feet and employ more than 100 full-time and part-time workers.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on opening day.
As part of the celebration, the first 150 customers will receive a Giant reusable shopping bag filled with product samples and other grand opening savings.
“Since opening our first Philadelphia store in 2011, we have continued to offer convenience for city residents’ grocery needs, combined with the freshness, value, and quality they have come to expect from Giant,” said The Giant Company president John Ruane. “Our new South Broad store builds on these offerings with a modern, bright décor, increased product variety, and a friendly team providing a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.”
Johnathan Heron, a 15-year veteran of the grocery chain, has been appointed store manager for the new Giant store in the Hawthorne neighborhood.
Customers can expect a large, market-free produce department with dedicated space for organics, meat, and seafood, a self-service deli, a hot food bar, underground parking, and a dropoff loop.
