New Corner Bar in Queen Village is Also Nice Hangout Spot Where Everyone is Welcome
Samuel Gritz Public House, a new corner bar recently opened its doors in Queen Village back in June, writes Timothy Walton for 6abc.
The new bar is housed inside a building that dates back to 1926 and is named in honor of the property’s original owner, Samuel Gritz, and his wife.
The current owners of Samuel Gritz Public House did a complete renovation of the nearly 100-year-old building to expose some of the historic space while modernizing the dining room and bar area.
“We want to be a place where everyone feels welcome,” said managing partner Frank Wise Bell III.
The kitchen menu features a mix of elevated casual fare and comfort food for any occasion.
This includes small plates for an evening out, entrees for more formal dinners, and outside seating. The latter offers a great spot to enjoy one of the Samuel Gritz’ cocktails or local brews.
The bar program highlights local makers with lines dedicated to Philadelphia breweries.
“Whatever you’re feeling that day, or whoever you’re with, you can just get something easy and quick or you can get a really nice meal,” Bell III said.
